An Oklahoma City official says the EPA may soon change regulations to reduce the amount of fluoride allowed in drinking water.
The EPA says that consuming too much fluoride over the course of a person’s lifetime “may lead to increased likelihood of bone fractures in adults,” and may also cause bones to become tender and painful later in life. Children, especially those 8 and younger, can develop pits in their tooth enamel and a host of other “cosmetic effects” to their teeth by over-consuming fluoride, according to the agency.
